Halfway there I decided we should look at the directions just to make sure that we were going to the correct medical building for Josh's tests...
This was a good thing...
for as it turned out Josh's procedure was happening at the medical building connected to Good Samaritan Hospital in the Pearl District of Downtown Portland.
ry@lfls#jh*eg!!!!!!
Seriously?
Did I mention that this was during rush hour traffic?
and my poor hubby (who hadn't eaten in 24 hours... and had been on liquids the day before that) had no idea where we were going. (he is directionally challenged by nature, but not knowing which hospital frustrated me)
ANYWAY...
We had the Excursion (huge mistake)
Parking structures in downtown do not favor SUV's...
thankfully we went the wrong way, got honked at... and stole a spot right when you entered so that we didn't have to take smash the roof of our car in order to park...
After finally locating the medical building, floor, and suite...
We signed in...
they took him back...
and I left to find some coffee and a place to watch people...
For those of you who know me and read my blog, you know that I LOVE my hubby. I think he is a man who loves God, is fabulous with his kids, loves me unconditionally, cares for others, etc etc. My list goes on and on...
but there is one thing that makes me crazy (besides the directionally challenged thing) and that is that I never really know what is going on with all his medical stuff... and then when I am called into action I feel like I don't know what to do... He DOES NOT like me to go to the dr. with him...
Which leads me to this?
At what point in a marriage to you start attending dr's visits with your spouse?
My parents often go with each other... but I don't think they always did...
Some of my friends do... some don't...
Is there a magic age?
anyway, let's just say that I was thankful for the walk...
Native Portlanders would freak at the fact that "the pearl" and I don't know each other... in fact this is the first year that I have ever been down there...
I don't know why.
it is beautiful, gorgeous, full of character, intrigue, and interesting people.
and there are a TON of cool shops and restaurants.

I sat here in the window of Starbucks for over an hour...
watching people and thinking about how blessed I was to be drinking an extra hot vanilla latte, and eating a perfect oatmeal with all the trimmings.
I watched police officers debrief (the morning after Halloween... :)
business people in suits, college students with their computers, a middle aged couple "dating" and very much into each other, a lady with dreds, a runner, a biker, elderly people...
it was fun.

this was part of my "inside" view...

I then walked down some of the streets...

seriously, how cute is this elderly woman out for her morning walk?

Good Sam's
Right across from the hospital are some apartments...

I wondered what would it be like to live right in the middle of a fairly large city...
to walk everywhere...
to be invaded every day by different people...
to leave your trash up against the building...

I never thought about how trash is picked up in the city...
I guess Monday is trash pick up day.
Good to know.

It sure was beautiful with all the fall colors though.
Our God is so good.
after my walk...
and my coffee...
and hot oatmeal...
I felt much better and was ready to go rescue the love of my life...
I am so thankful for modern medicine.
This has been a rough medical year for our family.
I am reminded of how much our God loves us... and how good He is.
The next time I visit the Pearl,
I hope I am on a date to dinner with my man instead of a dr's office.
