don't tell her I said this... but she kind of looks like a jack o lantern...
and Halloween was a couple weeks ago.
I should mention here that the tooth fairy went to bed at 8:30p.m. last night in anticipation of the PF Banquet and forgot to leave money and collect the teeth.
That would explain the big "L" on my forehead today if you happened to see me.
Remember the "Please pray for me" that I offered up last night...
Well it worked. Thanks for your prayers.
this morning I subbed for my hubby until 11:15...
ran home and loaded all the food (for 50) in my car
and headed back to the church to meet a couple ladies and start prepping
I had Jack with me...
Many would think that an almost 4 year old would be a huge problem while prepping food to serve that many...
enter Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Co.

these people saved my life today.
just saying...
the little man played with these guys, BY HIMSELF,
for 2.5 hours. 2.5 hours!!!!
I {love} Toy Story.

even if I can't remember all the weird names...

this is jack & emma AFTER Daddy rescued him from the church...
3rd phase of the day...
getting Sam ready...
this is an easy task because she is low maintenance...
a few curls...
a little bit of {forced} make up from me...
her new dress...
nylons... (she wanted to kill me over those)
flats... (even though all the other girls wore heels)
french manicure... (another forced event by me... done by me)

not bad for a novice...

"seriously mom... do you have to take my picture?"
"well since you asked ... yes I do." Document I must...
Phase 4: the final prep
Note: I have never prepared, planned, a meal for this many... except haystacks... which does not count... this was a stinking formal banquet...
other note... Do not and I repeat DO NOT do this to yourself.

it is still bleeding 10 hours later... throbs like, well I don't want to say... and is actually quite deep. I somehow managed to not cut the entire tip off... but it was close I must say.
Here's what my last 5 hours looked like.
[btw, THANK YOU to my awesome helpers who were not only FUN to work with but... amazing at doing everything I threw at them with a smile on their face! We spent a lot of the time laughing at each other!]

vege meatloaf, or ketchup roast someone called it...

seasoned potatoes in the oven

delicious dessert

Martinelli's X 20

servers to wait on our teen pathfinders...

some of my kitchen help
meanwhile in the other room kids were headed here...

and were waiting for their assigned "date" to come get them...
(thank you Jan for taking these photos!)
to take them here...

note: my daughter may likely kill me when she sees I put this on here...
please don't tell her, because I think it's cute...
1st banquet "date"

I mean it was assigned randomly after all...
and I might also add that this is the only time in her life that I will agree to a double date...
literally a double date...
there were so many girls that each boy had 2 or 3 dates...
WHAT?????
anyway, that story is for another time...
Back to the food and all the fun I was having.

did I mention that it was 500 degrees in this kitchen?
No? Well it was... and I was a sweatin.

Somehow I missed a photo of the bread and salad... and dessert on plates... but I don't think you will miss it... salad sure was pretty though...
phase 5: Clean up

when cleaning up... select men who are dressed up... it makes it more fun to watch!

Brenda, one of my right hands tonight!

Brenda with her awesome hubby who stayed all night and helped us with the food!

The 3 amigos at the end of the evening...
after cleaning, sorting, wiping down counters... and hauling food to the car.
I am {pooped}
But because I love you so much I had to share all the excitement.
p.s. my thumb really hurts.
