I grew up here....

in {yachats} YA-Hots... got it?

Photobucket
this is the south wing of the resort... there is the west wing... and the north/pet wing...
My favorite is the south, especially on the 3rd floor without kids ;)
I also had my wedding reception here... :) It was fabulous.

When I was little it didn't look at all like it does now....
we had a "crow's nest" above the lounge/lobby, it had lots of puzzles & windows all the way around.... We had carports and wood burning fireplaces...
I used to make up stories about all the employees & guests that were staying here... I think I could have written quite a few novels in the day! Not that they would have been readable!

Photobucket
this is our grocery store... it used to be called Clark's Market when I was a girl...

I stole salt water taffy from here... but don't tell my kids.
Don't worry my dad gave me a nice swat on the bum and sent me back to pay for it.
I blamed it all on my brother.... it was really my fault, I was the older sister and all.
I knew better, but I was a better liar. Not a good quality to have in an older sister.
Brad... I am sorry for trying to get you into trouble as a boy. I love you.

anyway... more of our fine town pop. 600 (up from 515)
there is no stop light in this town... I know huh? I grew up in small town USA.

this is the Yachats River dumping into the town's beach... we used to have kite festivals here and they were so much fun...
and yes... we are still such a small town that we have hitch hikers...
Photobucket
Josh & I spent our first 4th of July here... it was so romantic :)
summer love on the coast... I will spare you the details, you can thank me later!

the school I attended in 3rd & 4th grade...
the closed it down in the early 80's and we then bussed 8 miles to Waldport.
we walked here together my bro & I - 3/4 of a mile each way...
uphill & in the snow-
Wait that was the story my parents and grandparents told me from Canada...
wrong generation & wrong country... opps my bad!
We just walked here in fog, rain, and sun... together... catching tadpoles & that kind of fun stuff...
PhotobucketPhotobucket
we also had really cool smelt festivals here... I remember fondly cleaning bucket after bucket of smelt, wait maybe that is the smell that I still have in my pores that I am remembering - but that would not be a fond memory...

Now they use this building for...
Photobucket
Psychic Healing.... oh brother. Pathways to Transformation???
Can we not find anything better for my old school?
I mean I am okay with the Farmers Market...
they have a cool new playground here now... we just had swings and a kick ball field... we played kick ball everyday rain or shine and we loved it.

So now that I have inspired you to visit the Central Oregon Coast...
(because you know you have to see this little place)
We also have this,
Photobucket
the sea lion caves

or this...
Photobucket
Heceta Head Lighthouse... the most photographed spot on the Oregon Coast.
(take that Cannon Beach)

and this...
Photobucket
horsebackriding along the coast...

or this...
Photobucket
agate hunting...
my kids LOVE this btw

I am just saying - it's an awful lot of fun!

Curtis and I have been talking about going there. I would love for him to see it. The Adobe has changed so much as to how I remember it. We were on their web site awhile ago looking at the pictures, beautiful. We keep our passports up to date for quick travel. By the way, what is smelt? Great pictures. The weather looks cold or were the pictures taken in the morning?
