This past week we had a scare... a big scare.
My Grandma (or affectionately "Oma" to my kids) was hospitalized with pneumonia.
She stayed at Legacy for 2 nights. I almost didn't recognize her because in the matter of days she went from caring for herself to not being able to do anything for herself.

My mom said to me as she was getting ready to take my grandma back home, "I don't know if you realize that she may not make it through this." I was worried that she might not, it was almost like my grandma was giving up... she was so weak and tired.

I decided that this very well could be the last time that I see her... so I had all the girls come down and play the piano for her... like 25 songs worth, meanwhile I was snapping pictures of her listening. Then I took a picture with each of the kids. She perked right up and was smiling and when I later looked at the pictures she doesn't even look sick! This is my favorite one with Jack. He adores her and when she feels like herself she chases him around the house and he is continually taking her cane and walking with it.
My mother called me today and said that they took grandma to the doctor and they did another chest xray and checked her oxygen. Her levels were 94% :) and her lungs were clearing up. Mom said that grandma has had a good couple of days, and she even came upstairs for 1.5 hours today. They are also hooking her up with a monitor to make sure that her levels don't drop at night. This makes me happy. Can the news be any better?
So now instead of fearing that I may not see her again... I feel certain that she will make a full recovery and that we will all be able to get together for the 4th of July and celebrate! :)
Little known fact that when I was a little girl (think 5 or 6) I used to cry when my grandma would go home thinking that I would not see her again. Thankfully God has seen fit to keep her in my life and the life of my kids. I think she might make a 100! :)
All these photos are taken 3 days ago when she left for the coast. I marvel at how BEAUTIFUL she is at almost 92 years old!! And super sick and yucky feeling to boot! I am so thankful that I yanked out my camera and started snapping away. I will make sure that on the 4th it is in good use this year!
P.S. Sorry I have taken such a long break from blogging.
