Okay... another update.
Friday I received a call from the pediatrician office asking me to come in to see the Dr. regarding McKenna. Basically I will keep this short... The reflux she has in the left kidney is a stage one and there are 4 stages from what I understand. The problem is because of this she could be prone to a kidney infection and possible other issues. So after our pediatrician consulted with the top pediatric urologist in Portland... our plan at the moment is this, antibiotics everyday until August of 2008 to prevent possible kidney infection, then she will be retested with the ultrasound and VCUG to see if things are better, the same, or worse. At that point she will meet with the urologist if need be. In the meantime if she gets any fever over 101 or vomiting she needs to see the dr. immediately for a urine culture. (If by some freak chance that one of the other kids comes down with an infection then the urologist would like all the kids tested.. so we are hoping that doesn't happen) So, not great news... but not the worst news either... as stage 3 & 4 are treated by surgery. How scary! It's a long time to be on antibiotics, but they must be pretty confident that it'll be successful.
