Alternate Plans...

You know I don't like it very much when I plan and plan...get everything organized for 6 people (Josh is on his own! :) and then I have to make alternate plans...

Example: Spent the last few days getting tickets & travel rides for me to go skiing with Sam at Mt. Hood. I of course was terrified of going because it has been 19 years (and counting) since I have hit the slopes and a lot has happened in that amount of time. I had a ticket (free w/rentals) a ride with good friends, ski pants (borrowed from a good friend) and an excited 11 yr old! Last night I got everyone's clothes out and ready for the day... alarm set... Jack's stuff was ready for his day with Josh... and the other 3 girls ready for school & piano....

Fast forward to 3:30am when Emma crawls into my bed with a tummy ache... I of course try to convince her that it is a tummy ache from the yummy chili that she over indulged on last night... and I am secretly praying that this is what it is... we toss and turn for two hours... 5:30am... Josh is at the gym working out, Emma starts the vomiting process... over and over again for an hour... I keep asking her "Do you feel better?" secretly thinking I can still go skiing with my 11 yr old (even though I am terrified to ski again) 6:15am We are ALL up... ALL 5 kids and two of them are in tears... one because life is not fair and she is not getting her mommy... and the other because she feels she has ruined her sisters day and would rather be at school than over a toilet (I mean really wouldn't you?) I make the necessary calls to cancel & change my plans.

Enter alternate plan... instead of packing up to be at my friends by 8am to head up the mountain... I have taken care of a sicko... done a load of laundry... the dishes... emptied both dishwashers, had devotions with the girls... shower...watch Mickey Mouse Playhouse ALL BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS... But I know that I am where I need to be, with my sick child who needs me... Sam has lots of our family friends looking out for her... and friends to ski with... and the promise of her mom skiing with her next week...

I am hoping that next week things will be looking up.
